Email & Calendar on Mobile Devices

Mobile Setup

The simplest way to use Scout Society email and calendar on a modern phone is to sign in with the Scout Society’s account through Google’s normal sign-in process. The older manual IMAP, SMTP, and CalDAV setup steps are normally unnecessary for a Google Workspace account.

Recommended setup:

Use the official Gmail and Google Calendar apps. They use the current Google sign-in flow, support multiple accounts, and avoid most of the manual server settings found in older tutorials.

Before you begin

  • Know your full Scout Society email address and password.
  • If your account uses 2-Step Verification, keep the verification method available.
  • If the organization uses mobile-device management, Google may ask you to install a management profile or create a work profile. Follow the organization’s instructions if that occurs.

Android

  1. In Gmail, tap your profile picture, choose Add another account, select Google, and sign in with your full Scout Society email address.
  2. Complete any security or organization-management prompts.
  3. Open Google Calendar and add the same Google account if it is not already listed.
  4. Open the Calendar menu and make sure your Scout Society calendars are visible.

You can also add the account through Android Settings by choosing the device’s Accounts or Passwords & accounts area, selecting Add account, and choosing Google. Menu names vary by manufacturer and Android version.

iPhone and iPad

  1. In Gmail, tap your profile picture, choose Add another account, select Google, and sign in with your Scout Society account.
  2. Open Google Calendar and add the same Google account if necessary.
  3. Open the Calendar menu and make sure the calendars you want to see are checked.

Using Apple Mail and Apple Calendar instead

If you prefer Apple’s built-in apps, add the Scout Society account as a Google account in iPhone or iPad Settings and turn on Mail and Calendars for that account. Depending on the iOS version, account settings may appear under Calendar, Mail, or Settings > Apps. Choose Google rather than manually entering IMAP or CalDAV server information.

Verify the setup:

Send a test email, confirm that Scout Society events are visible, and check the selected account before sending mail or creating an event.
