Tiers of Adventure

This shared guide applies across multiple ranks, so Tier II and Tier III requirements below point back to one definition instead of repeating it inside every rank card.

Tier I Adventure

  • Very little preparation, planning, or prior skill development.
  • Less than one day and not overnight.
  • Generally not far outside the crew's comfort zone.
  • Useful for crew fun, recruiting, or as a stepping stone to a higher tier.

Tier II Adventure

  • Some planning, preparation, and possibly skill development.
  • Generally less than four days.
  • Outside the crew's standard range of activities.
  • Can serve as a shakedown experience before a Tier III adventure.

Tier III Adventure

  • Extensive planning, preparation, and prior skill development.
  • Generally at least four days and mentally or physically challenging.
  • Often a major highlight of the program year.
  • Shorter activities may still qualify when their planning and challenge are comparable.

Advisor confirmation matters: the supplied Tiers of Adventure guidance states that the Advisor should confirm the tier. The core difference between Tier II and Tier III is the level of preparation, planning, resources, and challenge involved.
